Your Stay At Dukes Memorial Hospital

Have a pleasant visit.

No one looks forward to a hospital stay, but at Dukes Memorial Hospital, we work hard to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible. Here's a few things you should know about your room and our hospital in general that can help make your time with us restful and healing.

We make room assignments on the basis of a patient's medical and surgical needs, such as the nature of the illness and the intensity of care required. While we will make every effort to provide you with the room of your choice, rooms must be assigned on the basis of availability and medical needs of all patients.

Your Bed:
Hospital beds are electronically operated. Your nurse will show you how to work the bed properly. Your hospital bed is probably higher and more narrow than your bed at home. Bedside rails are for your protection. They will be raised at night or during the day if you're resting, recovering from surgery or taking certain medications. We are glad to bring extra pillows and blankets upon request.

Please stay in bed after you have been settled in for the night. Unfamiliar surroundings and medication may contribute to unsure footing if you get out of bed, and your safety is our top priority. If you need assistance during the night, simply use the nurse call button and we'll be glad to help.

The Peru Tribune is available upon request from your caregiver. You may also get copies from the auxiliary station and Information Desk, located by Central Registration on 2 East.

Mail and Flower Delivery:
Mail and flower delivery service is provided daily. No flowers will be delivered to the ICU.

Interpreter services can be arranged for patients who do not speak English.

Smoking and Tobacco Use:
Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, vaping devices and other similar products, along with the use of any other tobacco products, is prohibited in all hospital facilities and on the campus. We offer smoking cessation classes for interested patients.

We provide a well-balanced, nutritious menu meet your individual medical needs and preferences. You will select your meals daily, lunch and dinner for that day and breakfast for the next day.

Breakfast: 7a.m.- 9a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m.- 6 p.m.

If you wish to have your meal delivered at a certain time during mealtime, please call the dietary department at extension #2273.

Guest trays are available for family members if needed cost is $3.00 for breakfast and $4.50 for lunch and dinner. If a guest tray is needed, please call the dietary department at extension #2273.

A Clinical Dietitian is available to consult with you and/or family about your individual dietary plan and to provide information on nutrition and food preparation.
